About
What is CCDSW all about?
The Champaign County Audubon Society, in collaboration with Champaign County Forest Preserve District and other local organizations, are putting on the first annual Champaign County Dark Sky Week! Our first celebration was planned for 2020, however the pandemic put a pause on our plans. So this year, we are hoping to go virtual to bring awareness to lights out campaigns and dark sky initiatives in central Illinois.
This week will focus around light pollution and dark sky initiatives, particularly focused on how these factors impact humans and wildlife. Our inaugural event will take place from April 5th to April 12th in collaboration with the International Dark Sky Week. The week after will be filled with many different events including potential pop-up star watches with CUAS, light pollution talks and panel discussions, and more!
